                    The GREAT WALL

The GREAT WALL of China is a legendary landmark.  Depending on what you read or who you listen to the length is between 3,700 to 5,000 miles.  The wall was to keep out the invading armies.  Several walls have been built since the 5th century BC that are referred to collectively as the Great Wall, which has been rebuilt and maintained from the 5th century BC through the 16th century.
